‘Traditionally, students looking for free juice and cookies have had to give up the very blood pumping through their veins. Now, thanks to a new speaker series launched by the Students’ Union, University of Calgary students can get their free juice and cookies served up with a healthy dose of useful academic strategies, tips and useful information.
Covering a number of topics including time management, scholarships, memorization, exam preparation and grad school planning, the Academic Roadside Assistance noon-time speaker series will see a different speaker tackle a different subject each week until classes end in April. Whether students are looking to beat academic probation or to squeeze that A into an A+, SU Vice-President Academic Laura Schultz believes the ARA series can help.
“There’s something here for almost every student,” Schultz said. “We should see a pretty consistent crew come along.”
ARA kicks off with “Making the Most of Your University Experience,” a lecture by U of C 101 Coordinator Alyson Woloshyn at noon, Wed., Jan. 19, in the Bianca Meeting room of the MacEwan Student Center.
