There comes a time where all U of C students come together to celebrate the challenge of their last eight months. Whether it was glorious or not, filled with too many blurry days spent at the Den or none at all, students have the opportunity to socialize with their peers in a relaxed, happy and entertaining environment.
The campus will be littered with music stages for all genres. Consider it to be a large campus music festival if you will. Inside MacEwan Student Centre the North Courtyard will host the fast beats of a number of local DJs. The food court will have the spinning sounds of Karaoke for those who want to show their Canadian Idol talents.
There will be three stages set up outside. On the back wall of MacEwan Hall (between MacEwan Hall and the Science building) a local and student band stage will be set to rev up the student for a great year end party. The Students’ Union has expanded the beer gardens this year to accommodate more students and a second stage of racy entertainment. U of C favourites, Al Testa and Emes and Grimes, will pump up the crowd on the DJ stage located between the Bookstore and Kinesiology. The main stage will feature the speedy sounds of Strugglah, Mad Bomber Society, Beat Matrix Sound Crew, and John Ford with MC Rick Bronson. The beer gardens will take on the theme of a 1960’s drag race – but not forgetting the Bermuda Shorts Day tradition. This year’s title for the gardens will be appropriately called "The Pit".
So how do you get to enjoy all this action? Race to the North Courtyard on April 10-16 (weekends not included) from 10 AM – 3 PM with proof of age ID and your student ID to get a wristband. You are allowed to bring one off-campus friend, who must be present with you when collecting your wristbands and must also show age ID.
Simple rules of the day to remember:
1. NO bags allowed in the beer gardens and no bag check is provided.
2. If you’re TRASHED you are TOSSED.
3. Please remember to drink responsibly – there will be checkstops in full force.
4. Your wristband will also be a free transit pass for the day.
Get fired up for the biggest bash of the year! Happy BSD everyone.
