The regular season has come and gone and our lady Dinos are heading into post-season play as the second seed in the Canada West Conference with a record of 16-6. This record comes after another weekend sweep, this one over the Trinity Western University Spartans.
Calgary dominated play throughout the entire weekend, paced as usual by Leighann Doan. The Dinos took care of the Lady Spartans quite handily by scores of 79-55 and 81-49 respectively. Sarah Williams had a strong game on Friday night, posting 14 points and five rebounds. Game two featured a solid performance from fifth-year forward Alison McGinn as she chipped in 10 points with a 100 per cent shooting percentage. Doan had an All-Canadian weekend posting an incredible stat line over the two games; she scored 58 points, grabbed 17 boards and had nine steals and six assists. The Dinos also got a boost from their reserves this weekend as they outscored the Trinity bench by a margin of 50-24.
It looks like Dino fans are going to get another chance to see the women in action. These two wins clinched a first-round bye for the squad and enable them to get ready to host the winner of Simon Fraser University and the University of Saskatchewan next weekend.
