The N. Murray Edwards Trading and Finance Lab officially opened Nov. 30. The lab will allow students to learn how to use trading systems such as Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. Murrray Edwards — a prominent Calgary business man — donated half a million dollars to the facility. In Wednesday’s grand opening he said, “Through the support of this initiative, industry is recognizing the important role the University of Calgary plays in the community. This is our way of thanking the school for the important role that it has played by training and providing us with the future leaders of our economy. If we can provide students with tools to better understand the markets, I am very confident that the students of this school will be well-trained to be the future leaders of the business community in Canada, sustaining and improving the quality of life and keeping our nation competitive in the marketplace.”
