It was a tough weekend in the world of Dinos basketball as both the men’s and women’s teams fell to the UBC Thunderbirds.
The women suffered a disappointing 68-57 loss on Friday night due in large part to foul trouble and turnovers. Guard Tamara Jarrett and forward Alex Cole led the team in scoring with 12 points a piece.
The boys in red fared no better than their female counterparts as Friday’s game produced a 74-63 loss. Dinos’ guard Tyler Fidler played only five minutes due to early fouls and an injury, but still led the team with nine boards and 13 points. Guard Philip Labongo and forward Matt Letkeman came off the bench to chip in 11 and 10.
Saturday was no better for the Dinos. Finishing with a 66-42 loss, the women’s team struggled to stay in the game. They were led by forward Ashley Hill with nine points. The men’s game ended 91-82 and the Dinos, yet again, were dominated. Guard Trevor Debolt led the Dinos with 18 points while Fidler chipped in 17 and Letkeman an additional 14 and 11 rebounds.
