Trick or treat for hunger

By Chris Beauchamp

Students with big hearts and scary costumes have a chance to help feed those in need this Halloween.

The 10th annual University of Calgary Campus Food Bank’s Halloween Food Drive is hitting the neighbourhoods around the U of C Mon., Oct. 31. Participants are invited to dress up and trick or treat for donations in the local community from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event is an annual rite for a number of clubs on campus but Students’ Union Volunteer Services Manager Sue Wilmott noted individual students can get involved too. Students can sign up Thu., Oct. 27 between 4 and 6 p.m. in the MacEwan Student Centre Falstaff conference room, or Fri., Oct. 28 between 3 and 5 p.m. in MSC 279.

“It’s an important fundraiser,” said Wilmott. “It starts our fundraising season.”

Surplus food raised will be donated to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank.
