While University of Calgary students nervously awaited the posting of their marks on Infonet, one student was anticipating a bigger announcement. Dino footballer Tim O’Neill was selected in the third round, 22nd overall, in the Canadian Football League draft Apr. 28.
The 25 year-old was the Edmonton Eskimo’s first pick. O’Neill joined the Dinos in 2002 from the British Columbia Football Conference’s Victoria Rebels. He spent a year starting on the Dinos’ defensive line before switching to the Offensive line to start the last two seasons.
The giant stands at a massive 6´3″¸ and worked very hard this year to add to his previous weight of 270 pounds. O’Neill is three years into a humanities degree.
