Chunk

By Ivan Danielewicz

My first reaction when I began to listen to this album was noting their similarity to Godsmack. As I listened more, however, I began to notice definite differences.

Unlike Godsmack, Chuck seems rawer and relies more on their instruments. While Slightly Different is a decent release by this Canadian trio, there seems to be one major problem with it–there doesn’t seem to be anything special about Chunk, they are a sound like nearly anyone else out of their genre. It’s clear to most of us this type of alternative metal is on a downward spiral out of the mainstream of alternative rock and metal.

If you’re really into this kind of music, check them out, but the casual listener will more than likely pass them by. Though there’s something to be said for bikers in thongs.
