Greg Clayton, a current Events Commissioner, will handle the Students’ Union finances as the newly elected Vice-President Operations and Finances.
Clayton is “pumped” to begin his job and start making changes.
“It was intense,” said Clayton, who won with 1,478 votes, just before he headed to the Den to celebrate. “I’m glad the independent majority came out [to vote].”
Third-place finisher and current Op-Fi Commissioner Jarrod Fuhr was disappointed by the results.
“The race was run clean by everyone,” said Fuhr who garnered 800 votes. “I was happy to be part of it. I was disappointed that it didn’t turn out.”
Ian Smedley, who finished just behind Fuhr with 719 votes will now fill out his convocation papers.
“This was the most educating thing in my university career,” said Smedley, who didn’t appear disappointed with the results.
Finishing last with 689 votes was Action Party candidate Jason Brown. Brown felt his first attempt at office was “not too bad.”
“Not in the next election, but maybe in a few years and with more experience, I’ll run again,” said Brown.
Second place finisher and Barski’s Cabinet candidate Angus Campbell could not be reached for comment.
