Students have only a few days to try for several new scholarships expected to be approved by the University of Calgary General Faculties Council on Thu., June 5.
The new undergraduate awards include: the Calgary Stampeder Alumni First Year Award worth tuition and fees, offered to a first year student in the inter-university football program; the EnCana Corporation Bursary worth $5,000 to a fourth-year Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering student; the HSBC Bank Canada BComm Scholarship, worth $13,000 each to two Finance, Risk Management and Insurance, or International Finance students entering their third year; the Dr. John C. Morgan Bursary worth $700 to a cardiology student entering the second year of their MD program; and the $1,000 Alton Bruce Ross Memorial Bursary offered to a fourth year accounting student.
In addition, three new graduate scholarships are also up for approval. They are: the Ronald P. Mathison MBA Fellowship, worth $6,250 to a full-time MBA student; the $500 Hillhurst Sunnyside Prize awarded to a graduate student studying issues relating to the development and preservation of Calgary’s inner city; and three Alastair H. Ross Memorial Graduate Scholarships worth $5,000 each to studying management and technology.
