The Honourable Susan Whelan, federal Minister for International Cooperation announced a total of $5.3 million in new funding for U of C projects on Thu. Oct 3.
“The University of Calgary is bringing expertise developed in Canada, particularly in Alberta, to countries that need our help to attain self-sufficiency in energy management and to improve their governance,” said Whelan.
$4.8 million will go to a joint effort between the U of C International Centre and the Latin American Energy Organization to support projects providing effective environmental management education and institutional strengthening.
Another $530,000 will go to the Tanzania Democratic Development Program’s Ethics Promotion Project. The purpose of the project is to assist the Ethics Inspection Unit of the Civil Service Department and the Ethics Commissioner in promoting ethics.
