Death By Moonlight, the critically acclaimed film of summer 2001 has spawned a much anticipated video game. All it took was some corporate sponsorship, a shrubbery, and an innovative start-up company called Stuporfi.
"Thanks to the cult following, we were able to get a substantial donation from a CEO fan of the film," explained Stuporfi founder Wilby Chichiteuse. "I think it’s fair to say this is this winter’s most kickass video game."
I decided to check out what the game offered, and found myself pleasantly surprised. Players will immediately notice the awesome realistic hyper-pixel RasterMaster graphics and experience it for 187 elbow-blistering levels. I was especially pleased that they were able to preserve both the macabre feel that made the movie so great, and make some cool neo-rustic changes.
"We wanted to incorporate the drama of the film and keep the wicked plot," gushed Chichiteuse. "One major change is that we figured the characters should be more aesthetically pleasing to our 12–21 male demographic, so now Lucia and Sophia are double Ds. Also, instead of just wandering aimlessly through the wilderness, they pack handguns and moonlight as strippers."
The result is the best game that I’ve seen since Tetras!
A warning to fellow gamers: the game has the same ending as the film. It always ends when Lucia eats her opponents. However, I suggest that you use the Lucia character
to rack up lots of points before making your opponents’ racks point up.
All and all a fabulous game, it is a formidable effort from this wacky little company. In the words of Lucia in the opening credits, "Prepare to be stuporfied."
