It seems every club takes a while to carve out its niche. Some create a new space and a new market in the Calgary nightlife, while others benefit from the demise of unsuccessful competition. The Embassy is an example of the latter. A basic no-name dance club for the first few years of its existence, it is currently assembling a clientele piece-meal by capitalizing on the missteps of competitors. When The Den closed, DJ Wah brought his talents and his Thursday crowds to the Embassy. When Dean Clarke could no longer be found at the Night Gallery, he resurfaced at the Embassy on Saturdays. Specializing in dance music and hip hop, the two-floor club (with a rooftop patio in summer) is a great place to cut loose every time out.
