The fact that the whipping boys at Trinity Western University are headed to the men’s basketball playoffs speaks volumes about the Canada West conference. The fact that the Dinos aren’t going is just flat-out embarrassing.
We won’t talk about Friday night–a 15-point loss in a must-win game is too much for anyone to stomach. The near collapse in the second half on Saturday was a fitting note to go out on. John Riad was the leading point-getter as usual. Equally customary was the complete lack of another scorer. It’s been the same painful scene all year long (only they don’t usually win).
Our boys could have made the playoffs if they beat Trinity twice last weekend. They didn’t. Our boys could have gone if they garnered two wins in the previous six-game homestand. They didn’t. Our boys could have gone if they played with consistancy and confidence. They didn’t.
Sure, there were injuries but you still need to play through them. The fact of the matter is we needed to win nine of our 22 games. We didn’t.
