• Remember Darryl Leason? Do you care what he’s doing now? The former Dinos quarterback, with brother Mike in tow, has joined the Calgary Wolfpack in the Alberta Football League. The AFL, for those (like me) who have never heard of it, is a tackle league made up of CIAU, Prairie Junior and high school alumni. The Leasons will play with the Wolfpack this year while looking for another university team to play with next season.
• On the Dinos hockey front, look for Eric Schneider to tear up the league once again. Schneider played well for the Dinos in their SAIT Eye-Opener Tournament loss to the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. Eoin Colquhoun, known for his hard work, but never for his goal-scoring, appears ready to move into more of an offensive role. Rookie Miles Hunter also fits in well with the Dinos’ grinding style.
• We have been informed that Amanda Hobbs–picked by the Gauntlet as a Dino to watch this year–did not make the 1999/2000 women’s volleyball team. If the team is too good for Hobbs, then it better improve significantly on last year’s record. Agata Woloszyn has returned as captain, which will give the team a valuable veteran.
