If you love learning, you’ll love Academic Awareness Week.
Running from Feb. 812, the week will provide students and faculty with a chance to share their achievements with each other as well as the entire campus.
"We’re here to learn," said Students’ Union Vice-president Academic Toireasa Jespersen. "This is a week to display what the students and faculty have achieved."
Academic Awareness Week kicks off on Mon., Feb. 8 with a debate on ethics and reproductive technology between the Faculties of Law, Medicine, Nursing and Social Work. The debate will run at Speaker’s Corner from 122 p.m. and there will be a mock trial held in the north courtyard of the MacEwan Students’ Centre at noon.
Other activities for the week include jeopardy, Engineering Olympics, more debates, clinics, slide shows, displays and performances by the Faculty of Fine Arts.
"Really this is quite a broad and wide-spread week. "We’re trying to show that learning is fun," said Academic Comissioner Andrew Ferguson, adding that the week may not be as successful as hoped because they didn’t start advertising soon enough.
Academic Awareness week is running at the same time as another su iniative: Wellness Week.
"We didn’t plan to have Wellness week at the same time," said Jespersen. "It was our crazy schedule, but it should work out rather well."
